dsl max is very sensitive to line noise. if you router/modem looses connection too often in a short space of time the exchange decides you have a problem and reduces your throughput. i've spent weeks in the past on 128kbit due to a dodgy line. unfortunately your speed can be reduced in as little as 30 mins but takes 3/4 days of stability to get put back up. all this is nothing to do with talktalk; its the technology at the phone exchange.0

is dsl max my modem?
ive heard you can clean your line by pressing 1 or something. is that true?
thanks browolf.0 -
dsl max is the "up to 8mb" internet type
dunno about that pressing 1 thing. using the phone whilst the broadband is on can improve it temporarily. something to do with forcing a current down the line.0 -
When I got connected to broadband I had to leave the modem turned on for ten days while the line sets itself. Something to do with sync rates or something. My speed gradually increased.0
