I think everyone is getting hung up on the e-mail part and most people are missing the point. People do not make "collective applications" for new jobs. If each individual had independantly sent their CV to surrounding practices, then without a doubt all the practices would have been speculating like mad. But one person sending everyones CV? - may as well have hung a banner across the road saying "all the staff here hate our employer and we can't wait to see the back of them" That is bringing the employer into disrepute. Putting aside all the issues or non-issues about using e-mail, that alone would constitute a dismissable offence. And if the OP was so indispensible then they wouldn't be suspended!

And I wouldn't put a whole load of eggs in the basket over colleagues backing you up either - it does sometimes happen, but it is rare. Given that I am sure they also don't want to be looking for another job with no income, I would lay some bets on their version of events coming closer to "well, I didn't really want to do it but Bexster kept on at me and I said yes just to get her off my back, and no I don't have any problems here, I'm perfectly happy, she's just a bit of a troublemaker / bully" than my hypothetical banner over the road.

In your shoes I would start looking for another job as your days are numbered. They may well accept you back but will be looking for an opportunity to get rid of you.

I would bet my house on it. When push comes to shove, everyone looks out for themselves and loyalty goes out the window

Yeah, good luck getting a job at the practices you sent a group email to!

Jesus. How can people be so stupid...

OP, would you really want to go back?

Use this as an opportunity to start fresh somewhere else. Things happen for a reason and maybe this was meant to be.
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun

Yes, maybe her and all her friends are meant to be unemployed!

I think everyone who was part of this should pay the price. The OP may have pulled the trigger but they all held the gun. I'm still reeling that anyone would think this was ok!
  • This is one of the oddest situations I've ever heard of. I have no doubt the other people involved gave permission for their CVs to be circulated, but I have NEVER heard of a group of people's CVs being sent out, especially using the work email of one of the group! I can't believe there wasn't one person among the group intelligent enough to realise this would be a very bad idea....

  • It's important to be tactful and discreet if looking for work elsewhere while still employed. That includes not using your work email address to send out CVs! There's probably a reason none of your colleagues wanted to be the one to actually send the email. I would keep your head down and keep up the search for a new job from your own email!
