Iphone tarrif - can I cancel
I'm trying to cut my outgoings down and much as I love my Iphone I think £40 odd per month is a little excessive.
My contract doesn't end for a good few months yet, but is there anyway I can drop down to a normal phone contract? I have an old mobile which I could use.

Unless your contract states that you can, you can't (in law).
The network are the people to answer this point factually. You could, of course, look at your paperwork and their web site t&c.0 -
Your contract probably isn't just for the service they provide - i.e. you are paying for the cost of the iPhone handset in your contract. So you can't just say to the network "I want to start using a phone without internet, so please start charging me less". It doesn't work like that.0

You could see if you could sell your iPhone on eBay, and then just use your other phone on the same contract. This should help reduce your contract costs!0

o2 allowed me to change my priceplan half way through my contract, and I downgraded too. But I had the highest price priceplan and there was other cheaper priceplans which allows you still to have the phone for free.0

Service providers will usually let you downgrade your tariff to a lower price plan after a minimum of 6 months has passed in your contract. Saying that, most networks are sympathetic tocustomers if you explain your financial situation, and on that basis they may allow you to change tariff before the 6 months period. from my experience, as long as keep your contract and pay your monthly bill on time you should be fine. so give em a call, tell em you can no longer afford it and hopefully they downgrade you. good luck0

It's half of the minimum term, not 6 months actually. And only some of service providers.Troutface_x wrote: »Service providers will usually let you downgrade your tariff to a lower price plan after a minimum of 6 months has passed in your contract.
Most are not sympathetic. They just can't care less abut your situation. And this is understandable, because they need to recover the cost of the 'free' (or heavily discounted) phone. They are not charities to be sympathetic.Saying that, most networks are sympathetic tocustomers if you explain your financial situation, and on that basis they may allow you to change tariff before the 6 months period.
Yes, luck is what the OP really needs.so give em a call, tell em you can no longer afford it and hopefully they downgrade you. good luck0 -

What he said....I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0
