  • Do you have a child of 16 or over still in full-time education?
Did you inform them your child was staying on in education?
Cut off date to tell them was 31/08

    Could this be the reason?
  • have you done your renewal and completed it fully, my friend had hers stopped last week as she left a box blank on the renewal form! :)

mine wasn't in the bank either, ds is 16, i even rang them in April (this was confirmed when i rang this morning).

Those whos children as staying on in full time education/training.
Tax credit stopped on the 31st August and will be reinstated within a few days.

If you have informed them of your child(s) decision to stay in education already, you would of been told there will be a break.

Unfortunately thats all you are told, no confirmation letter was ever sent.

Had to ring bank as this put me overdrawn as 2 direct debits tried to come out, bank was very nice and understood and cancelled the dd's and bank charges as i called early enough.

rang the energy company who's dd they were, they were brilliant, understood and were very helpfull...

I even called child benefit and csa, thankfully (seeing as i called them all in April) they have it all still set to stop in 2 years time.

So if you didnt get your money today and your child is 16 it should be with you in a few days, according to Mike at tax credits.

When my daughter was 16 and staying on in education 3 years ago, the tax credits didn't stop completely, as I had two other children.

However, the payments in respect of my daughter did stop for two payments, before they were readjusted and the payments for my daughter continued.

Now in the same situation with my middle child, so waiting with bated breath to see what happens with my tax credits due in my account tomorrow.
  • My payment isn't due till the 9th, hoping the new reward is sorted before then.

When I phoned to tell them they didn't say there would be a break, they told me the current award go to the end of august but not to worry a new one would be done. No indication there might be a break in payments.

Thats the thing with tax credits, they make things up as they go along, but seeing that they record their calls (or should do) they are not doing themselves any favours if they don't know what they are talking about.

I wish that rather than blag it, ask for advice before giving us wrong information.

I've just phoned Tax Credits to check if I had told them that my 16 year old was staying on in education, memories going a bit:). They said I told them at the beginning of june but that mondays payment would still be a few days late but not to worry it would be there eventually. Apparently it doesn't make any difference how far in advance you tell them this will still happen.
