one month contract

Hi i am looking to replace my O2 contract after my ever lasting 18month one is up and have noticed that the best deals come with a one month contract (sim only), any idea why this is ?, are the charges due to go up soon ? i thought they tryed to tie you in for as long as possible.

Many Thanks

I am pretty sure that you can find a better sim-only deal elsewhere.
Giffgaff or Tesco mobile if you insist in O2 network.
    Chitter-Chatter (t-mobile)
    talkmobile (Vodafone)

Porting your number to another network is not a problem.

I've been singing the praises of giffgaff of late, but that chitter-chatter doesn't look bad.
