o2 Genie free texts - is it a scam or does it work?

Yes, same here.. Thought I'd missed the top-up date, but its not that.. Am definately being charged for accessing the net via my mobile!

My sim "glitches" occasionally so I get the free texts without topping up.
Anyone else get this?

It works!! I read this thread too late, bit the bullet and bought one and i got a text this morning saying 'thank you for topping up, you now have 300 texts and 1mb wap. Don't forget to top up again on 10/02!!!! Well worth the 99p

I think they had a three month trial of free internet access. I only found this out after my three months were up, mores the pity. It was in the blurb for my daughters new phone.

....the reason it doesn't work is that O2 got sick of people illegally getting free texts, and started locking up the sim cards that were fraudently doing this.

So....a word to the wise for anyone attempting this trick............ you have EVERY chance of O2 blocking your sim.

I downloaded a ringtone off o2 active thinking it was free...the download disappeared and I got charged! i rang the o2 c/s and they said I couldnt of downloaded it from the active site as it didnt show in their records.This was total b.s. he also said there would be a link to redownload but I couldnt find that either apart from that I have been happy with the 300 texts deal...just be careful when doing the "free" tones thing peeps:o
