o2 Genie free texts - is it a scam or does it work?

I've spotted this on email and wondered if it's any good or if i'd be wasting my money.

I have a geneie chip and i top up £10 a month to get the 300 text, but you still get to use the £10 for calls, so a good deal really, i'm not sure how you would get the texts without topping up though

this bloke is just selling you a e book on how to get the sim cards.. check out the sim card thread on here and you can see for nothing how to get them

most mse members have ordered these for free and i for one have all my family on these.. you have to keep topping up by £10 a month to get the free txts but i only top up every couple of months as i use my free quota one month then the cash the next month

look at the free sims thread and 02 will send these out to you normally you can get up to 4 at a time

Ok thanks for that. It says on the advert though about getting the 300 without topping up £10 every month and that's what made me think about getting it. It's only 99p i suppose so i might get it just to see what it says!

I have this deal where you top up by £10 and you recieve 300 free texts, you are also suppose to get free o2 internet aswell, over the last few months i have recieved this free internet but all of a sudden i am charged for accessing the internet on my phone. As anybody else noticed this?

Apparantly you're supposed to set the date back on your phone or something.


To be honest I can't see it working as the date on the phone has nothing to do with it!

I have used the same sim card for months now and have been topping up by £10 every month, i havn't been charged for the internet before and suddenly they are charging me huge amount of money to access the internet for a couple of minutes, by huge i mean about 50p for a minute which is alot of money,

Don't waste your money, I am not sure if it works or not but if you want the info I will send it you free just let me know.

I've had one of these O2 Genie sims for a few years now and I'm chuffed to bits with it. I top up £10 every month and get 300 free texts, or £15 and get 500 free texts. The credit can then be used for calls, but I don't use my mobile for calls very often (I'm a text-aholic! :rotfl: ). O2 are always giving these away free on their website. You have to top up by a certain date each month to get your free texts, but that's not rocket science!

when you get a new 02 sim it comes with 300 text on it. you dont need to top up but have to use the text the same day you but the sim in your phone. you get free net for 1 month on them which you can donwload 1 free game i free pic and 1 free ring tone. the sim is call a texter they also do a talker which you get 50 min which are xnet work means you can ring any mobile or landline but the same as the texter you have to use it on the day you put the sim in your phone that also comes with the free downloads and net
