in Water bills
Hi,
Just moved into a new flat with girlfriend and to be honest I'm not sure how it works with water bills.
We have already changed our gas and electricty supplier to Scottish Power as they came up the cheapest on a comparsion site.
Can you do the same with water companies?
Thanks,
Ben

You have no choice about which water company you are with.
Most companies insist that new occupants are on a metered tariff. However it is sometimes difficult to fit a meter in flats.
If you are not on a meter you will probably on a Rateable Value tariff. If a meter cannot be fitted you may be better off asking for an assessed charge.0 -
Thanks!
How do I find out who my water company is and do I just contact them to ask for the above.
Thanks

Ask another person in your block of flats who supplies them.
Find out if they have a meter and how much they pay.0 -

Just call up your area's supplier and they'll be able to sort it all out for you. Or, as we were told by our landlord, you can just move in and wait for them to write to you as 'the occupier'.... you'll either get a yearly bill or will be on a meter. We're on a yearly bill and pay £22 a month 8 months of the year.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
