Bring back Heinz Vegetable and Potato Salad Tins
Comments

My local Spar probably still has some. Years ago, I would indulge my occasional hankering for salad cream with some tinned Heinz potato salad. The vegetable salad was dire but the coleslaw was even worse eww.
However the worst salad I have ever eaten was in Canada were they have this gruesome habit of plonking salad etc in a shallow dish and pouring lime Jello (jelly) over the top and putting a slice on your plate. Jelly with your Iceberg lettuce anyone ?
Arctic Rolls are back (not that I ever had one before) and currently on offer at Ocado
They have the same thing in the US, 'jello' salads, never tried them but they sound pretty horrendous! Xx0 -
Gosh this takes me back! When I was growing up in the 50's/60's I remember my mum opening a tin of Heinz vegetable salad every Sunday teatime. I didn't like it then so can imagine I would like it even less now!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

I remember these from my childhood in 50s/60s
I loved them. My Mum usually bought the veg one as she used to make the most fantastic potato salad herself.0 -
50/60's I thought it was the 70's, my mum must of been late discovering it, well did live in the back of beyond0

Has anyone been able to find Heinz vegetable salad or any equivalent please?0

Sainsbury's has a Polish salad which has apple but otherwise seems quite similar. Can't remember whether it was in the World Foods aisle or chilled Polish section.
My mother reckons if you stir Heinz sandwich spread into small dice of cold boiled new potatoes and add extra Heinz salad cream that's similar too.0 -
Thanks Edwardia, my dad lives in the States and keeps asking me to bring some so I need something close to it that I can buy him.0
