Got a Toshiba Laptop, not the same model as previously posted it was model L670D-146, for £44.97. Took some getting though. Had to ask the assistants 3 times if they had any, then gently insist they scan all they had out the back. 3rd one was 44 quid, whilst doing this I asked another assistant if they had any ereaders. He had one in his hand, he said only this one, scanned it, when it came up at £20, said but she's buying it, indicating a colleague! I said I ddn't think you could buy things when on shift but he said well she is!
Went to checkout and casually asked if staff could buy things when working, She said definately not! She called her supervisor who promptly fetched it from the electrical desk for me to buy! Result! Have wanted a kindle for ages, but this will do nicely!! Thanks to all posters!!

That was a little selfish of you.

Just wanted to post, some items still avail but you have to hunt for them, got a shaver £9 and 2 cameras today £15 each from my little store but scanned many items on the off chance, also used voucher £5 in todays paper.

Thanks to everyone for all the useful posts, highlighting the items to look for and giving me the confidence to ponder around the electrical items, get my list out and scan lots of things, have also enjoyed reading what others have mananged to get.

I may not have got a cheap laptop but did get some great xmas presents within my budget so really pleased.:D Only one problem hope my family dont expect such good presents next year.

You do know that staff are customers too, and are also on a paltry wage? You sound like a nasty piece of work and I just hope you never got that member of staff the sack! Horrid behaviour.

  • I don't know if this has posted before as I am new to the forum, but I'd like to explain why some of these items are so cheap. I work as a Non Food Team Leader for Tesco and one of the main problems we face is discontinued items. We usually have little space to clear our discontinued and it builds up in warehouses. Some stores are good at managing their disc stock and others aren't, thats why you will find lots of bargains in some stores and not in others. As a general rule the older the store the better bargains you'll find. About a month ago the company decided to bite the bullet and discount most of our disc stock by at least 50% with further reductions as the weeks went by. You generally won't find a lot of cheap laptops or TV's as they tend to be dealt with fairly quickly once they are discontinued but it is possible to get a good deal. I got a Western Digital HDTV player and a 1TB Iomega external hdd for £18. I would advise people to ask assistants what they have, I always advise customers if we have a better deal in the back as it is a relief to get rid of it.

I have to say it also crossed my mind that you would cause the member of staff a lot of trouble by having done this. Personally, I'd be embarrassed to show my face in that store again if it had been me.
