Next door neighbour installing a large fountain in his front garden..

Can he do this without planning permission? I suspect he can, but I just wanted to ask..

It all depends on exactly how big "large" is...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

  • 1/2 metre square by a mitre high - ish.
  • if it's a water feature then they won't need planning permission, but if it's a full scale model of Niagra Falls with cable car, gift shop and hotels, he'll need planning permission.

Then no, they don't need planning permission...

Why do you care about it, Planning permission or not.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Let's hope the local chavs don't squeeze a bottle of fairy liquid into it then, like they repeatedly did to a fountain in front of a local office near to where I used to live...

Handwash detergent would be even better than Fairy liquid I suspect. I accidentally put some in my washing machine once. Crazy bubble explosion all over the kitchen floor.

Or pink food dye? Macho water feature. ;)

Because their fountain is only 1/3 of a metre square and half a metre high :rotfl:
