ive no advice but i am disgusted at how someone can treat their own mother and grandparents like that but why did the mother trust the daughter after knowing about her coning the granparents?

i dont think there is much anyone can do as you said the daughter used to work in a law firm so presumably has done everything "by the book" meaning there is nothing anyone can do.

Sounds like the mother didn't know about the daughter conning the grandparents at the time as OP says it has been discovered since then and hindsight is a wonderful thing. The daughter sounds like a piece of work!

Doesn't sound as if anything can be done legally, but if a fraud has been perpetrated, maybe the police should be contacted.

Thank you for all of your posts.
Most of this has come to light in the last few months, after the elderly lady tried to take her own life (thankfully she was found in time).
She now wants to forget all about what happened and try to enjoy what's left of her life, but my friend (the good daughter) would like to see if there's anything she could do on her mother's behalf. The lady was of sound mind at the time, and was clearly manipulated by her devious daughter who she trusted completely. Having found out since that the daughter had conned her own grandparents a few years ago, it's making the old lady even more feel foolish and humiliated (even though she obviously had no idea at the time of agreeing to the house in France).
All very sad, but at least she's safe (now) and being looked after.
It's nice to be important.....but it's more important to be nice :)

I have now asked my husband about this. NB He has only studied law a little/is not a lawyer so please don't take his word as gospel (he works as a consultant to the French government).
He does seem to think that there is little/nothing that could be done without a lengthy and costly legal battle :( As you say the house was in her daughter's name and she was of sound mind at the time of agreeing to this.
Nevertheless I hope they all find a solution with which they can move forward.

If the old lady can PROVE it was her money which financed the purchase of the house - then she MAY have a case. otherwise, I am sorry but, she has been hoodwinked by a real conwoman! I bet she is broken hearted - to have your own daughter do that to you is totally dispicable!
I hope this horrible person never has a good nights sleep in that house!

I'd advise the nice sister to go to France with lots of friends, wait until the sister is out, then break in and change the locks, and host a continual holiday home with friends coming and going for the foreseeable future until she agrees to sign the house back over.

Other than equally "dirty" tactics, there's not a a lot that can be done without expensive lawsuits.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
