I have never used the packard bell restore disks - but yours does seem a common problem http://forum.packardbell.com/en/viewtopic.php?t=38522&highlight=exths+exe have a look on their forums

Is it a Packard Bell ?? - was their forum any use ? Seems you have to "initialise" tattoo the disk before you can do their restore procedureRich people save then spend.

I now have a windows xp disc which i am trying to use to set up which i will use my product key with but my drive only has 1 partition and its asking me for another partition can anyone help0

First the drive needs to be formatted as 1 large partition/fat 32 and labelled HDD. This can be done from DOS prompt using the command , FORMAT C: /V: HDD
Boot with mcd1 in your optical drive (where Q is the optical drive letter, may be D or whatever) type,
Q:\DRIVERS\TATTOO /CREATEHSFROMDMI
Press Enter
Boot with dvd in your optical drive. type,
Q:\EXTHS/RESTORE
Press Enter
You should then be prompted to choose the components of your computer. Other things asked for are Country = 01 for UK, Format switch, usually 10. you will also be asked to enter the PB Technical Code which we are not allowed to post here. Google.
Info on your comp can be found by entering your s/n on the main support page. You need mobo name, optical drives etc.
If all goes well (which it rarely does) you then reboot with MCD1 and the recovery should begin.
