Is it a Packard Bell ?? - was their forum any use ? Seems you have to "initialise" tattoo the disk before you can do their restore procedure

First the drive needs to be formatted as 1 large partition/fat 32 and labelled HDD. This can be done from DOS prompt using the command , FORMAT C: /V: HDD

Boot with mcd1 in your optical drive (where Q is the optical drive letter, may be D or whatever) type,
    Q:\DRIVERS\TATTOO /CREATEHSFROMDMI
    Press Enter

Boot with dvd in your optical drive. type,
    Q:\EXTHS/RESTORE
    Press Enter
You should then be prompted to choose the components of your computer. Other things asked for are Country = 01 for UK, Format switch, usually 10. you will also be asked to enter the PB Technical Code which we are not allowed to post here. Google.
Info on your comp can be found by entering your s/n on the main support page. You need mobo name, optical drives etc.

If all goes well (which it rarely does) you then reboot with MCD1 and the recovery should begin.
    Any problems post back.
