Sounds like it yeah... letter is routine I understand to ensure they get the backpayment right and have the account to put it in. Money should be coming soon.... party at your place it is then."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -

Party? But surely the back pay of DLA is to repay the debts that have been incurred during the period of waiting for the appeal as DLA money is used to provide help that the disabled person needs.
Maybe the help hasn't been given so far, in which case why not?
Surely if someone has made a case out of someone needing this extra money to have a near a normal life as possible, then has the disabled person been suffering during this period because the money has not been available?
Maybe they already have enough funds to pay for this extra help needed, but again the back pay should be used to reimburse that money that was spent.
DLA is effectively to reinstate basic core functions that a non disabled person would take for granted... being able to keep one's self safe, cook a meal, go out to the shops, have a wash etc. If someone has been getting such care while awaiting the outcome of a DLA appeal or decision and racked up debts then it is a risk. More likely people would go without the care - it's unlikely many people on DLA could get many thousands of pounds loans with no evident source to repay such. No bank manager is going to lend thousands of pounds purely on the basis a DLA appeal may be very successful.
The care remember won't necessarily result in the disabled person being undone... i.e. without it they die or similar. It may just mean the person lives without going out or doesn't look after themselves.. a bit like me.
So in answer to your question "..then has the disabled person been suffering during this period because the money has not been available?" - in most cases I would suspect yes. Reference to partying is to highlight the nightmare this benefit can cause rather than any real events. I suspect the day I finally get a DLA award that is realistic according to law I will quietly celebrate with a day of watching Tales of the Unexpected episodes...lol... any party would be in my own mind... just like going out is and having friends..lol...I do gardening many times a day.. one day I'll actually do it in the garden..lol"Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -

yeah i was expecting the letter! just glad they arent appealling it but to be honest i couldnt see them appealing my award as it is only until september 2012 by the time the appeals would have gone through i would have thought my award would have ran out lol
I have been lucky that i have had family and friends on my street that have pulled together for me to help me on a daily basis and they have been using my car if i have needed to go out!!
As im not a drinker never really have been too work focused lol i think it will be a nice meal for everyone that has helped to show my appreciation as i dont think they would take any money off me as i have offered already for the time and care they have given me!
getting very nervous now though as it is 3 weeks 3days to my surgerybut also really excited that ill finally be good to kick my career off again:o

i dont think muttley actually ment a party just a figure of speech at actually winning and getting my award as its hard work and very stressful, im only 25 and hope to be back at work this time next year after ive recovered from surgery.
I feel very sorry for the people who have to fight for their dla especially those that have life long conditions who do need alot more than i do im just gratefull my needs for now have been recognised and when my awards up hopefully there will be no renewal as ill be good to go back to work FOREVER!:happylove:heartsmil:happyhear:heartsmil:happylove0 -
