Skype on mobiles

I'm not a great mobile phone user - have had a PAYG basic phone for years and spend around £10 per month. But now one family member will be moving to Spain and I'm thinking of moving up in the phone world and being able to use mobile skype for phone calls to Spain. I don't mind having to pay rather more than I have done in the past - just don't need a contract with hundreds of hours/thousands of texts that I won't use, though I would use mobile internet if I had it.
FWIW 2 family members have iPhones, 1 has a Blackberry and I have a £4.95 phone from Carphone Warehouse!
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Skype on mobile is very hit and miss - when it works there is a delay on the voice, when it doesn't work that delay increases or you just don;t hear the distant party. Using a mobile connection requires good bandwidth from the mobile operator, and this can be variable depending on when you call. Far better to use fixed broadband, and then chat for free.
