Just had the dreaded conversation and basically I've been given the choice of either what I do now (a 9 day fortnight) or reduce it to 3 days a week not the 4 I had requested. I can't afford to drop by that much. That's an extra 6 days a month rather than just two.

I've been asked to think about it over the weekend, but I know I can't afford to do that and I doubt DH would agree. I'm really stressed and upset now and I just know this is going to set me off in a downward spiral.

I should be grateful that I'll still be able to pay my bills, but I just can't seem to get the right work/life balance that I *need* in order to stay sane.:cry::cry:

  • He says it will end up costing the firm more money rather than saving money, and he can also see me wanting to reduce my hours further at a later date so I may as well reduce them now.

He rightfully stated that his company is not a support network for my fledgling business and if I don't have enough orders to make up the difference in pay it is my problem not his. I fully agree, but I don't actually achieve much in the alternate Wednesdays that I do work and recently I have made so many mistakes in the accounts ledgers that I feel having the other Wednesday off to de-stress would actually improve my efficiency.

Of course, I forgot to say that during our meeting. :(:(

Hi everyone - thought I'd post before I go home....test results from the docs -clear for Diabetes and normal cholesterol levels....was very worried about a positive result for either as I am plus size, but all's well.

    God Stitchy (hugs to you)

Could you possibly continue as you are now and review it in 6 months when you have more orders and your business is more established.

Please chill and think about it at the weekend.

    Hi all

Stitchy - oooh, decisions decisions... How is your annual leave looking? Could you use some well-deserved holidays to simulate working 4-day weeks for a few weeks, just to give yourself a wee rest etc?

I went back to work today so that was fun, fun, fun, as you can imagine. Will probably be working overtime on Sunday because I love the place sooo much :rotfl:...or is it because it's all falling apart around me??! :rotfl: One can but try!

Also, today is my 2 year DFW anniversary! I first posted on this here thread 2 years ago! I remember because it was also when I started my job and my dad's bday. Imagine that!

    Small things-wise for me:
    • Forgot my purse - but didn't panic like I used to, just ate toast for lunch and walked to/from work - easy peasy
    • Emailed instead of calling/texting
    • Slow cooked tea
    • Knitting with yarn I got on sale
    • Reading a 99p book
    • Finding OH's change and putting it in the penny jar ;)
    xxx

Hope things go well for your OH today ziggy. :grouphug:
