I am looking into doing a part exchange with Barratts but after reading this think I maybe better off putting my house on the open market and seeing what happens0

Put it on the market. Even a quick sale price will leave you in a stronger position in the long run. Part ex is effectively paying for the hassle of selling your house. In the current market it's not a good idea.0 -
When I did a part exchange, Barratt didnt try to hide this fact at all, they had a big banner up saying part exchange or £10,000 discount available on this plot.0

Nothing wrong with the scheme as such providing you understand all the implications of it and are sure it helps you get what you want.
Not sure I'd touch it myself mind...If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
There will always be differences on sale plots for new builds. It is just down to negatiation and where everyone stands. We have just bought another new build house. We have part exchanged ours for slightly more than what 3 EAs values it al and we have paid 3k than our neighbours for same style house but ours has double garage and bigger garden and we have carpets included. They btw were also cash buyers. It is just down to how much you attach yourself to the property and how you display it.
Wise up and retain this knowledge for next time. Everyone gets different deals depending on what figures the vendors need to hit.The glass is always half full, no exceptions !!:D

It does take a lot of the stress out of moving - I guess it depends how much you are prepared to pay to make things as stress free as possible. I've never sold a property before but having heard the horror stories from friends and family and also the nightmares on this website, I think it was worth the extra money. We didn't have to present the flat for sale which was just as well as it was a mess and we didn't have the hassle of viewings nor the stress of wondering if the sale would go through or not.0 -
S??t happens, you are a worse negotiator than neighbor, get over it & be pleased at neighbour's good fortune.
Cheers!!0 -

Do not stand for it. Send a strongly worded email to their head office and do it without delay.I honestly would not waste your time. They will read it, pass it round the office, all have a good chuckle, then move on with their day.

If you only bought it recently why are you considering selling it again so quickly?
If it was for property speculation then the best advice anyone on this board can give you is 'don't give up the day job'......
Houses are for living in, don't let it bother you just get on with your life......Some you win some you lose.0 -

the OP should contact the media and see if they will run a story
"house building X ripped me off"
You never know.
You can get money for your story in various magazines so it might be an angle to pursue.0
