  • Thanks Valm and Sawan, I appreciate it. Managed to get a couple hours sleep after all, and feel a bit better this morning. My brothers girlfriend is here with their puppy which is a massively welcome distraction, I have to say there's definitely truth in the idea of pets being therapeutic. My boyfriend is coming up on the train this morning and hopefully will be here I'm a couple of hours, and I'm looking forward to seeing him - although I'm not at the same time as I think I'll break down as soon as he gets here. On an ironic note - Thursday was also my one year anniversary with my boyfriend, so yay to us, although that has fallen by the wayside for now. Supposed to be moving in with him into our flat in 2 weeks, not sure how I'm going to find time for that!

Thanks again for your kind words, it really does help.

Hi guys, sorry to bring the mood down but I have bad news and it's one of those times where talking to strangers is probably easier - not that I consider you lot complete strangers anymore! Plus everyone else is asleep and I can't sleep... My dad died on Thursday. Am in a state of utter shock and don't really know what to do with myself. It was completely unexpected, got rushed to hospital in the morning and a few hours later he's gone. I didn't manage to get home from London in time to see him. My family definitely doesn't do anything by halves - it was exactly the same with my brother 4 years ago, a&e in the morning then gone. I can't believe it.

Sorry to write this here, but I really don't know what else to do right now and it feels like telling someone will help.
hope you're all having a much better weekend than me, I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Flirtini, hugest hugs for you hun and my condolences to you and your family.

Everything that comes to mind right now to say to you pales in comparison to what you must be going through. So personally all I'll say is I'm happy to listen to anything you have to say, because sometimes there are no verbal words to reply. We're here for you.

    xx

Absolutely this. I lost my father unexpectedly a few years ago, and theres nothing that prepares you for the shock of them suddenly not being there. HUGE condolances and hugs, and talk away xxx

sending big hugs as I know how you feel,my dad was taken into hospital but no one in the family thought to tell me he was in a coma so I called up expecting some good news only to be told he had little chance of recovery and he died soon after so i never got to say goodbye. When mum went as least we had been prepared as she had cancer and we knew when to ecpect the end.It is never easy, you only have 1 dad :grouphug:
  • Flirtini I am so sorry - and you have no need to apologise whatsoever - if you need to talk, and you need to talk to us, then talk away. xxx
