Dont forget to tell the kids, this happened to my friend when we were younger, i went with him straight from school for tea and his family had moved and forgot to tell him. He knew they were moving at some time or other but no-one told him it was while he was at school and he didnt even have the address of the new house until he got it off the new owners of his old house.:j

Hehe, I had that once. Took the Scout Troop off on Summer Camp and one set of parents moved while we were away. Luckily they turned up to collect him.
Turned out the lad's sister was off on Guide Camp that week too, so the parents took the opportunity of doing the move whilst both kids were out of the way - good idea really.

Don't forget to take a meter reading for the electricity in your new house and let the company know the exact date you move in so that if there are any unpaid bills fromt he previous owner you shouldn't get any hassle from them.
Entry readings on new, exit readings on old
    Gas, Electricity, Water

Give them their readings by phone - and hang on to the paper you used to take the readings at least until you have the bills

We won't leave old property for a few weeks and it's with the sane energy comp so will take readings but won't ring them until we have left the old one.

Can you print some sheets of stickers 'Please forward to :- ' with your new address, and give them to the people at your old house in case any others crop up? And maybe do the same for mail for the people who sold you your new place?

Love this idea, that will make it so much easier for the people behind us! Although I don't know if the letting agents would leave them there or chuck them!
