Flue Installation Quote?

Hi there,

Looking to have one of those snazzi expensive in-wall open fires installed but do not have a chimney in my new build property.

The one that I want of course needs a chimney or flue. My question is what would be a reasonable quote to have a complete flue installation to an outside wall to accomodate this sort of fireplace. I have been quoted around £4500 for complete install of both flue and fireplace(not including the price of the actual fireplace but all other materials included) by Townsends in Abbey Road West London but of course this is before any sort of discount or negotiation. As I have no idea of install prices was hoping someone could enlighten me as what a good price would be to negotiate for.

Your comments would be very much appreciated.

Regards

Without knowing height of house it's difficult to say,you don't say if the fire is solid fuel or gas. There are plenty of sights on the internet that sell flue so check their prices. Consider buying bits yourself and getting a local builder to fit it, you can fit it yourself as it slots together with sealant (I'm talking about solid fuel here)
  • The fire is a gas in-wall with granite surround. The qoute includes all building works to install fire as well as chimney brest, fan and flu. Doing it myself is not an option. The Townsends salesman has asked me to come back with what I think is a viable qoute for negotiation.
The height of the house is an average two story Barratts new build.
