I took a car insurance policy yesterday (30.08.2011) and there were extra things with the policy, not sure why but I can list them here:

Additional Cover:

Legal Cover arrangement fee - Already included
Keep Motoring Cover - £36.50
Personal Accident Cover - £25.50
Windscreen Cover
(applicable to Non-Comprehensive cover only) - £35.50

I found a cheapr price for insurance and also with all these useless extras and feeling of dishonesty I want to cancel the policy with them, unfortunately they are closed now so I have to wait for 9am tomorrow - but it will be only the 2nd day of the insurance!

The lady on the phone told me if I cancel within 14 days then they only chargr £25 - but I read online horrible stories on Kwik Fit insurance and I'm scared they will try to charge me more.

Anyone has experience with it?
If I call tomorrow to cancel the policy they should only charge £25 and refund the deposit, correct??
Or they will charge for cancelling the extras too? The lady told me any extra is £0 to cancel within 14 days - but who knows if she hasn't lied to me.

If not I'm so scared ....

if it says a £25 admin policy if cancelled within 14 days, then that is all you will be charged.

maybe ask them to match the other quote youve got before you cancel, to see if they will retain your business.
if its not much, you can be better staying taking reduced quote and cancellation charge in to account ?

Could be a good idea - if they reduce it only though ... thanks again! :money:

Why take out insurance and then keep on looking? Surely you do the looking first!

What is the feeling of dishonesty?

Why take out 3rd party insurance it is normally much the same price nowdays?

    I called them.
    They canclled.

They charged £25 cancellation fee plus £17 for using 3 days of insurance with them - they charge you on TOP of the £25 cancellation fee another £17 - I'm not going to argue over that, I prefer for them to take it and just make sure this way everything is cancelled completely and let it be a lesson like the guy from Scotland said with his questions which he is right.

The lesson being "don't insure with Kwik Fit".

They charge a £25 admin fee for everything, even simple stuff like changing cars.

    They charge:

£25 admin fee - for everything
more £ - for each day you've been on cover

So basically - if you take insurance TODAY and cancel TOMORROW (within 14 days) - they will charge you £25 plus a certain amount per each day you've been on cover - I saw other insurance companeis don't do that within 14 days - they simply cancel or maximum chargr £25 but £25 only without any additional charge.

    Been there, done that.

I wouldn't touch Kwik Fit insurance with a bargepole.
