Hi, can anyone help?

My daughters DSi won't recognise a game card. It is a year old, everything else works fine. Any suggestions about how to remedy this.

Thanks

Is she using an official purchased game cartridge? If not, and she has recently updated the DSi firmware over the internet, the new firmware prevents the use of pirated games.
Do you have another DSi console you could test the game in?

Sorry to be pedantic, but when you say "a game card" do you mean just 1 or all of them?

if it's just one game, then the game cartridge itself is faulty, if it's all of them then the console is faulty.

Look at the game card, you know the black & white "age rating" thing, if it's a number (see https://www.pegi.info to see what they look like) the card is gubbed, if it's a number (see https://www.ersb.org to see what i mean) it's an import and won't play on your machine.

None of the game cards play now, and they are all legit. They used to play, but don't now....

Someone suggested that it could be the contacts?

It's more likely to be the console - contacts or otherwise.
    Try them in another console.

Games work fine in other DSi.

Any tips on what the problem might be? Is it something straight forward? What could I try?

    Thanks

It's a DSi, so most likely still under warranty - Nintendo from my experience are quite good at dealing with things like this, if it's still within a year take it back to the retailer or try phoning Nintendo directly and see what they say.
