Bt nightmare

Hi everyone,
hope you will help me finish my Bt nightmare!
I've been with BT for 18 months now for my phone, broadband and tv but my contract will be coming to an end on 09/09/11.
I've written several time to Bt asking for the Jiffy bag ( to send back the vision equipment) and a confirmation about the end of my contract but I've just received an useless email where they ask me to wait and get back to them once the contract is near to an end.
I would like to join Sky for all my service but without Bt confirmation how can I proceed?
Thanks for any information you can give me!

Hi, I'm no expert but I believe BT must send you your MAC code if you wish to change. I would imagine they will then send you a jiffy bag. I wonder if they are stalling hoping you'll renew with them.0

Just ring them up and request your MAC (if you haven't already). They are obliged to send you it within 5 days (I think) else they're in breach of OFCOM's code of practice.
Then give the MAC to Sky. They should sort everything (including informing BT) but it's a good idea to inform BT yourself also that you are leaving and NOT renewing your contract. (Watch BT don't try to auto-renew).0 -
Thanks everybody for the help!
I've called Bt - they've told me that :
- I can keep my Bt vision equipment
- I have to pay my Bt bills till the activation day of Sky service
- I can use my MAC code still 5 October
Now I'm really confused.0 -
You are misinformed. Your contract does not come to an end on 9/9, it simply reaches the end of it's minimum term. It then becomes a 30 day rolling contract and continues until such time as you give notice. You'll need to give BT the required notice, which is presumably 30 days. Obviously you'll be billed by BT until the switchover takes place.
A MAC is not notice of cancellation, it is just an option to quit. If unused it expires in 30 days, as they advised you.
You' need to cancel BTV and line rental separately, as a MAC is purely for the migration of your broadband service.
And whatever you do, don't rely on Sky when they' say 'we'll cancel everything with BT for you'. Once you have submitted your MAC and got a switch date from Sky, contact BT and make sure they have the same info. Once you've had your final BT bill, cancel the DD.
The BTV equipment will cease to function anyway once you have terminated your contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop
