edf fixed saver version 2

i'm currently with edf and their tariff save online version 8,if i switch to fixed saver version 2 it will add £255 to my bill a year,would i be better switching as i know they could pull version 8 at anytime or just wait it out.
any helpful comments would be most welcome

why limit yourself to edf? enter your consumption figures into a comparison site and it will tell you the best tariffs available. just be aware that edf havent announced their price increase yet, so any variable edf tariff is likely to change.0

eon is the cheapest by about a £100,and that seems to be fixed for 12months from the time you take the contract out0

Ok double check it is fixed. If you are happy with this deal check sites like quidco or topcashback to see if eon offer cashback (better in your pocket than a comparison website) and sign up for it.
Just check though that your tariff has not cancellation fees if you leave before the end of the tariff0 -

also use your annual energy figures rather than your monthly DD amount - give EDF a ring and get the last 12 months figures - the most accurate way of using the comparison sites.0

There are others who can comment more knowledgeably than I ....But the way I read it you would still be in contract as the guarantee is 2% minimum discount to standard ...they are currently discounting by ~ 20%!! If they increase their "standard" prices you would be OK tho'.
It's a gamble - if they hold the discount for an appreciable part of the tariff year then you are quids in ....but there are those cynics (I'm one!!) who believe that EON will reduce the discount considerably before Winter comes, once they have roped in enuf customers!:rotfl:0 -

That would be a 'Unilateral contract change'.
You can then exit the contract by giving notice prior to the price increase taking effect.They will be obliged to hold prices until the switch goes through.
You will also be exempt from any termination fees.:D0 -
I would def look at alternatives if you're not tied in - we've recently switched to EDF and am now really regretting it - their customer service is shambolic and we're having major problems with the direct debits as they've increased the amounts for no reason (immediately after the first payment - contrary to what we were told prior to signing up with them) and won't respond to us when we've queried it.0

Telephone them - had the same situation with increased DD - Customer service advisor agreed it was computer nonsense and returned it to previous level. Lots of people have commented on this problem in other threads.:T0
