30 years is a good age , but you have a large investment in the ducting etc.

Warm air is a marmite system , you love or hate it , no sitting on the fence.

Only take advice from a specialist .

I assume he has a warm air ticket as he is working on yours?

Just because he may be Gas Safe doesn't mean he has carte blanche to work on everything gas.

I don't have the warm air ticket as there is not enough call for it in my area.
  • What did the tenant do to help cause your 30 year old warm air system to be condemned?
  • Not entirely sure - but the original gas man reported seeing lots of spent matches inside the boiler.

Hopefully im getting a warm air specialist to see it on monday.

Any ideas what would be a reasonable quote to replace the existing boiler etc?

I read your reply when you first posted it . Thank you.
Is it fair , no idea.
But the difference in price is small considering the upheaval a 'standard' wet system would entail .
The problems of running pipes ( or is it plastic) around the house, lifting flooring etc???
Does the orig price include removing all the duct work ........ or just hiding the openings?

Will repeat myself ..... Is it fair , no idea.
But would like to know what and why you come to your final conclusion.
