I am also having problems with this company, I have purchase at lease 20 books from them but they wont leave me close the account, saying that I have not bought any books from them. Anyway, if you want a number to speak to an advisor - on the automated number go on to make a payment and do nothing, just stay silent and after a few mins they transfer you to an advisor, not that they are any help.
Don't use this company!What goes around comes around0 -

Sorry to say that if they operate as they did 12/13 years ago, their default notice will be there soon. Hubby was a Sci Fi and Fantasy member back then. He bought his minimum commitment, and as far as he was aware had closed the account. Then over the next year he lost his paperwork, and moved house a couple of times, and never thought anymore of them until we met, and eventually decided to buy a house.
A £5 default issued by BCA, that he was not aware of, for a book that was never received, stopped him getting accepted for the mortgage - and it took them almost a year to remove it from his report.
I will admit since then I have used World Books and BFC several times without any trouble - but just thought you ought to be aware of the possibility.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Today I got a phone call at work... it was them! Trying to sell me on the phone! The nerve!
I dismissed the caller coldly but politely. My colleagues always have a laugh at my "exterrrrminate" voice - I keep it for such cases. As soon as I told the man I wanted to be left alone, he hung the phone without a word.
Then I arrived home and lo! the postman left a note for me to pick up a parcel. Since I am expecting nothing, I guess it's them. So the chain of events goes as follows:
1-they agree to cancel my membership
2-they charge me money
3-they send somebody to pick up the books they've charged me but haven't even dispatched
4-they send me a statement saying I've been charged for those phantom books
5-they send me the books?

I am being troubled by world books may be cause of my own mistakes.
I was taken in by their offer sometime back of orderinf 4 or 5 books and got a radio free with that.
But didn`t see anywhere clearly stating that I have to place 6 or more orders in the year.
Thanks
Did you really think that you would get 4 or 5 books and a free radio without there being some committment to buy further books?
As someone else pointed out, it is written in the terms and conditions which you have to sign (or tick) to say you agree to, before you can place an order.
It is always in your best interests never to sign anything without reading the small print.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
