Hi friends,
I am being troubled by world books may be cause of my own mistakes.
I was taken in by their offer sometime back of orderinf 4 or 5 books and got a radio free with that.
But didn`t see anywhere clearly stating that I have to place 6 or more orders in the year......... and I didnt know abt it untill one day I got a parcel containing 4 books which I never ordered. Now they are sending me bills for those books and threatening to go to the debit collecting agencies if I do not pay the price of the books which I never orderd and also loads of fines and late fees.
So never never use them..... and
Kindly help and advise me how to tackle all this.......
Thanks

They send you a magazine & 'editor's choice' which is sent to you unless you reply to cancel it. But you must buy something like 6 books over 2 years or similar.
Missus signed up with Books For Children (same company I think) as there were some good offers, and they have been useless. Moved house, so updated address on www site which just sat there saying 'processing' for weeks. E-mailed them, and they still didn't do anything about it. So books/magazines went to old house.
Courier they use class chucking package over gate or leaving in wheely bin as 'delivery'. I'm quite surprised they didn't open the box, shove everything through the door including the folded up box! They dispatch a book, it takes over a month to be delivered! She completely lost it with them when a present ordered in September still hadn't been delivered by Christmas.

I have to admit, that it's been spelled out on every World Books promotion I've ever seen. You did keep a copy, didn't you?
The bad news is that this commitment is on the bit that you sign & return to them ...Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
have used world books and many similar companies for years with no problemsADOPT DONT SHOP......🐕🐕🐕🐕0

I was with World Books for a while. One time, I was waiting weeks for a delivery and when I contacted them they said it had been sent. 3 weeks later, I find a sopping wet parcel under some empty boxes (I had just moved btw) near my shed. I never had any note through the door informing me of the whereabouts of this parcel. The books inside were dog eared and soaking wet. I did phone up and complain and I did get a new set of books.
As regards to the commitment of having to buy a certain amount of books within a specific time limit, this to me was always apparent. Any company offering books for pennies or for free, be aware. There's always a catch! It pays to read the small print."There are no pockets in a shroud..."0 -
But I placed the order on the net and and I didnt sign anything
And believe me it wasnt apparant to me when i saw their website abt the commitmentI wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T0 -
I also joined on the net, but I read the T's and C's before commiting. When you tick the part where it says "I have read and understood the Terms and Conditions " part that is where you are effectively signing.

I've replied to your question on the warnings and rip off forum.
Mods, is it possible to merge the two threads as the question asked is the same?

I am having a similar problem with Mango. I signed up to join on the internet and it took 4 months for the introductory books to arrive (practically forgotten about them by then). I placed an order which didn't arrive so had to phone and fill out forms, etc. Re-ordered, waited 28 days and guess what? no books. Phoned and emailed again and getting no-where (it is now 8 months since I joined and I have not managed to buy a thing). Have asked to close account but have been told I have a commitment to fulfil - how do I do this when they don't send out the books???!!! aaarrhh!!0
