*Sighs* I've done something stupid. [Insurance]

Try to apologise, I wouldn't keep on about how the mistake could have happened, it makes it sound more dodgy. Just "Sorry, must have been a typo".
Worse case is if Greenlight does not cover people with unspent convictions and they cancel your policy, this would give you issues getting another policy without paying through the nose for it.
Best case, Greenlight accepts the error and there is no extra premium.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -
That's not true, because for the £24.50 I paid as the cancellation charge, I also had a full month's cover for that money, so it wasn't £24.50 "lost". They refunded the premium in full, less that charge. I got my money's worth from that policy. If you say so, but it still cost you to cancel so you only saved £15-50.
Even if it had only been a £15 saving (which it wasn't - it was £40, give or take), a) that's still a £15 saving, and b) at the risk of repeating myself... the cover on offer was better. Less the cancellation fee.;)
The point of this thread isn't for me to defend why I switched, it's about the mistake I made whilst switching and how to go about fixing it in the best possible way. To add to the situation, he did say over the phone there was a chance they won't agree to insure me at all.
Lets hope you don't have your policy cancelled because that is going to cost you a shed load of money for a new policy.:o0 -
I can't believe you still don't understand.
I paid £24.50 to cancel and got 30 days insurance cover for that money. My premium was £640, and £640 / 12 is £53, so by cancelling during the cooling off period, I got 30 days insurance for £24.50, which was cheaper than if I'd not cancelled!
So you are absolutely, completely dead wrong to take the cancellation fee in to account. If things had gone to plan, I'd have saved £40 on the premium, plus had the benefit of better cover and the month's cut-price insurance with Churchill.
Will continue this argument after dinner...0 -

This is the nightmare scenario, I’d be tempted to do some dummy quotes with Greenlight to see if they would have offered cover had they known about the conviction.
If they wouldn’t have offered cover then I’d try and cancel it rather than letting them cancel.
If they would have offered cover then you’ll just have to pay whatever additional premium they ask for.0 -

Is it not going to be a cancellation fee of £24.50 + £53.00 for the month's cover you've used? Makes little sense otherwise.Nice to save.0

According to Churchill they allow you to cancel (and get all your premium back less the cancellation fee) only during the first 14 days.
After that:If you cancel after those 14 days have passed, we will return any premium less a charge for the number of days for which cover has been given and an administration fee as shown in your schedule.0 -

Fixed that for you.;)0 -
Might get even worse if they decline tomorrow. You are always asked whether you have been refused insurance.
You have to remember these are insurance companies and will do anything to get out of a claim, law to themselves.
Having noticed something of a similar nature myself the other month with these compare sites ie forms 100% filled in correctly. When its submitted to proposed insurer some of the details are changed and you cannot alter. Only option then is to phone it through which they sting you on as its not an online price.0
