Hiya DS, had to give up on a long post i was trying to send you other nite, typed it twice but wouldn't send again ! Its my so called rest day today before the killer week ,car mot today passed mechanically, failed on flamin crack on windscreen so 70 + 50 quid mot today its an old banger tho so could've been loads worse ! Hope you're getting over the childminders thoughtless comments other day,i had that lots of times with my kids & teachers insensitive remarks, both mine were younger ones in their class yrs & they all progress at different stages i found due to maturity & they do catch up mostly . Whats needed is kindness & patience, not destroying of confidence. My sensitive son was an impressionable 13 yr old when his family life was torn apart & witnessed me falling apart aswell & he fell behind with schoolwork yet his tutor at school was just nasty to him throughout it & it just added to his sadness.Remember your'e little one has a nice caring mum who will support her at any time
Sorry bout the bloomin' chimney, never rains but it pours eh? Glad its being fixed quickly tho , you never know if you wait a bit longer for those luverly cushions you may find they'll be a 75% reduction on them!!! Have a nice wknd, its wearing myself out time for me from 915am tomorrow & i can feel a sore throat starting?0 -
Well the chimney has been made safe and insurers agree that its wind damage. Have to send photos but at least I'm not facing a massive bill - that worried me - never sure with insurance as they always seem to find a way of avoiding payment in my limited experience.
Money has run out with two weeks till payday but I have £100 on ebay at least. Don't want to spend that on groceries though - recon I can make it through on about £20 but I can cope with a wee OD of that.
Pity I need to find £150 for my insurance excess but it could have been a lot worse!
Still painting the woodwork in my bedroom - flamin' shutters are taking ages.
Have a charity sale at end of month where I flog off old stuff DD has grown out of. Should make a wee bit at that too - those cushions await......... Seen a trampoline on ebay with enclosure - may get that for the bairn if it doesn't get too pricey - she'll love that in the summer.
Bonus on the mortgage - I'm a wee bit further on than I thought ( just got a statement) - will definitely be below £30000 by end of my first year - yesss - that was my aim for the year. It'll start with a 2 from May. Chuffed with that considering my outgoings when I moved in. :A
Hope your working week goes ok Thrifty - good on you for putting in the hours for extra cash - it'll be worth it one day!! ( glad the car wasn't too bad - hate thouse fright-bills)May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0 -
Yay - about £120 on ebay yesterday and spent last night labelling grown out of clothes and toys fopr charity sale. Hoping to get another £100 from that. Maybe I can afford my anti-wrinkle cream now!
Need about £50 to see me through the month as school lunches and paint have pushed me a wee bit into OD - not having that this month!! If I go into OD I find it hard not to do it the next month and so on - my aim is to live on what I have and pay debts / OPs - it has to be possible - even with the inevitable things that seem to crop up - every blinking month...........
I did however get a trampoline for the bairn on ebay yesterday - with enclosure and quite new looking ( but not one of those huge ones) for £10.50 - total bargain! Much excitement in our house. :j
Greenhouse arrives tomorrow - in bits of course but I'm not ready to put it up yet. When I am - home grown tomatoes, peppers, cucumber.......I hope!..........May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0 -
Oh wow you've done well with the ebaying, that'll help won't it? Trampoline bargain too ! I keep putting ebaying off cos last time i did it, it took me a whole day near enough to get a few items on but then when the money rolled in i loved it, so i'll have to get the kids to show me an easier way to do it, get rid of clutter also!!
Greenhouse sounds exciting is it a glass one ? home grown salad much yummier than synthetic supermarket
Just a thought on the grocery front do you have any nectar points that you could use to eek out the budget a bit? I had a nice surprise other day to find i had 30 quids worth of points !0 -
Good pointy thrifty - I'll check my points and tesco ones too - I may have a voucher lurking. Don't need much to make it to end of month OD free - and can go without really as freezer has lots in it.
Someone's bloomin' car alarm was going off all night - I'm tired today.
Everyone around me seems to be having problems with their boilers / washing machines / microwaves etc breaking down. Why is it always January eh? I only have a chimney to replace..........costs looking like circa £20k and rising. Thank god for insurance!
zzzzzzzMay 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0 -
Blimey DS that's some chimney isn't it, did you type that right....21k?? I'm gona check out my insurance covers me for that tonight as i've had largish lumps of concrete falling off roof last couple winters & that's scared me  You find these things after you've moved in tho' as you're finding out unfortunately,i had to have the flat roofs redone at cost of £1200 soon as i moved in,wear & tear so no insurance ! There is so much that i'd love to do here to make it nice but worked out it'd need around 5k to get it all done, but figure out i'm prob better off tryin' to get the mortgage down first,so have to put up with horrid disabled shower, ancient ripped sofas & curtains, yukky golden sludge brown carpets,etc.,etc.,!! Perhaps i might have something worth a bit lurking in back of garage eh?!!
You in the garden yet putting up that greenhouse, knowing you then yes you probably are !!:A0 -
Sadly yes - that is the right figure. Covered by insurance and split between 3 but still.....I can't help worrying that the insurers won't pay - no reason for that - just can't help worry till its done. No doubt it was storm damage but you know what insurance companies are like.
Guess thats why emergency funds are so important - my measily £500 wouldn't touch something like that.
Greenhouse came - yahoo. Two panes broken and will come later but thats fine as I need to get slabs put down first - and can't quite decide the best spot for it. Dad (bless him) is paying for it - and currently on holiday so it'll be a wee while yet.
Bought new bed linen with my ebay proceeds - and anti-wrinkle cream!! I use ebay money for treats or OD if necessary. Trampoline for the lass - the rest for me haha. I'll put the sale proceeds into savings account though - every little helps I guess.
Is it payday yet??
Get in that garage - you'll be amazed what sells on ebay. A guy in the office sold some old dried up drawing pens for £12 the other day.............
When you do it a lot ebay gets really quick. I take digital photos of all items, put them in a file on my computer then sit down and list them all - about 8 at a time 'cos its boring...but watching them sell is dead exciting. Worst bit is going to the post office........ho hum.
Are you working this weekend?
My ex is having daughter on sat night so I can go to a party!!!! Unheard of.May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0 -
Trampoline is up - total bargain.
Am meeting insurance man this afternoon - wait to see what they say - I'm worried that its going to be a fortune to repair the chimney and some of it is maintenance rather than storm damage- more expense.
Weight loss non existant - and it used to be so easy - sniff. Must be my age!
Payday on Friday - the longest month ever. Phew!May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!

Well my long week of grafting finished on fri but i wasn't feeling well all over the wknd so did nothing but lay on sofa'did however go to the pics sun night to see warhorse & what a weepy that was, great film tho if you get chance to go? Boyfriend was expecting some sort of romantic evening iykwim, but after one glass of wine i fell fast asleep,so he's not too happy with me,seemingly he's not understanding it that i'm doin long hrs on my feet & have 2 fairly lazy teenagers on top  And i'm definitely feeling my age lately & definitely need that anti wrinkle cream, just finished a nasty little pot of face rubbish from land of £ !! Must admit their £1 hairdye aint bad tho,god i am such a super scrimper aren't i just?!!
How did the party go then DS that was great you got to go out, hope you enjoyed yourself & you resisted the urge to splash out on some glam party outfit?!!
Fingers crossed for you about chimney tmrw, really hope it's not more added expense, you could do with a break from those monthly payouts0 -
Party was great - hangover wasn't though!! Wore an old outfit so very MSE!!! :A
Insurance man wants more quotes as current scary estimate is bonkers. They will pay storm damage but thats all so need to be careful. I also only have to pay 1/4 so thats good.
I think my sad £500 savings may be about to take a hit........and some!
Ah yes - the good news about not having a boyfriend is that I don't have that sulk nonsense!!! A 7 day working week ain't good for the libido.........;) If he took you for two weeks to the bahamas you may feel more accomodating hurhur.........
Off to parcel up yet more ebay items - have peaked this month. Also got my stuff ready for charity sale on Sat. Poor daughter was sleeping as I sneaked out the toys she doesn't play with......cruel mum! Need the space after christmas and the money does come back her way again ( usually...):oMay 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
