Temporary bath fix

Hi All,

We have just moved into our first property (yey!) and the plan is to rip the bathroom out in October and completely re-do including moving a wall to make space. However the bath has got a hole in it (about 1 inch in size) its not broken all the way through but looks like it will soon.

Anyone got any ideas on how to to a quick repair to keep it going for another 4 -6 weeks?

drill a hole in it and insert a nut & bolt. dome head if its under yer bum.
    use rubber washers either side.

    itll last a few weeks/months.

However you repair it it will be a weak spot. Last thing you want/need is for it to split (am assuming its fibreglass BTW - you didn't say) when its full of water. Just don't use it or bin it.

    Cheers

A good cosmetic refinisher would sort this with ease and would as stong as new

Magicman is Uk wide and there are plenty of independant bath repairers

Seems like the right answer to me, for a temporary fix.

What would be the point in going to such lengths/expense? OP says in Post #1 that they are going to tear it all out in October and renew. MM will be a minimum £120. Sorry but I just don't see the point.

My local refinisher would charge £60, If there not bothered about colour finish it would be even less

Even at £120 i would rather have working bath than no bath, To remove bath and replace i would charge £400+ so a good saving

What would you do, take a shower in the garden with a hose pipe, Or bathe in a Gorilla Tub:rotfl::rotfl:

Not with a half decent bath you wont

Trade price decent Ideal Standard/Carron bath £150+

When it comes to water you get what you pay for, A Idealform bath is approx 10mm thick acrylic, A carronite bath approx the same. Both have the same weight or more of a steel bath and are super strong. I doubt very much you could hole one of these baths , would need a few hard blows with a lump hammer

    Buy cheap buy twice

Popycock. If you are paying £150 trade for a 'decent' (whatever that means) bath more fool you. A Roca 2.2mm steel bath for £120 easily - sometimes £100. Look around. Hell, tey will even pre drill the tap holes for you for that :rotfl: Now thats MSE

Im happy with mine - then again, I dont play with my hammer in the bath :D
