Photos of no-blue-badge cars in disabled bays??

Anyone know any websites which show photos of cars without blue-badges in disabled bays?>??

Purely to draw the driver's attention to displaying the blue badge that they forgot to display, aye...

Just because someone doesn't have a blue badge doesn't mean they aren't disabled.

Sure you can't park in council run disabled bays, but many shops the sign just says "Disabled parking" not "Disabled badge holders"

This is an issue I'm particularly concerned about at the moment as my partner has recently sustained an injury that has left her requiring a wheelchair for the next few months as she is only able to walk a very short distance and even that causes pain. We're not claiming DLA and thus it's difficult to obtain a blue badge.

She is able to drive and has managed to obtain a wheelchair that will fold up small enough to fit in the back of her 200SX, but still needs to be able to open the door fully in order to use crutches to get herself out and wobble to the boot to assemble the wheelchair, and then to wheel herself back to the door in order to reach inside and grab her handbag and any other belongings and put the crutches back.

Once she is not with the car the only evidence of any disability is a pair of crutches on the back seat, to most people it's just a 17yr old heavily modified sports car parked up in a disabled spot driven by some selfish prat.

In car parks that require blue badges she has to find an end space in order to park, or if I'm driving we get to cause a nice scene/congestion as I leave the car sticking half way out of a space while I assemble the wheelchair and bring it around to her. Obviously if the car park has a drop off point then I'll use that, assuming that isn't full of parked cars.

Think about that before you start posting pictures anywhere. If you haven't seen them get out you can't possibly know why they're parked there. Even if you have seen them get out and walk away there are plenty of invisible disabilities, such as CFS, that could restrict their walking distance.
  • Whilst I accept Lum's point the reality is that every analysis shows at least 50 % of disabled parking bays and/or permits are abused

The proposed website would not help as those people just wouldn't care even if they bothered to look

Don't even get me started on the abuse of parent&child spaces at supermarkets near me where the rule seems to be if a car could have a baby seat fitted then it can use those bays

So what you are saying is that a blue badge is no indicator of whether the driver of that car has a disability?

Makes the OP's plan even less worthwhile.

Bad idea, about as usefull as better driving please .com, the people who park in disabled bays without badges do so because they couldn't give a toss so naming and shaming these people is pointless, you ain't gonna change them, also people who go around photographing offenders then posting the pics on a website clearly need to get a life.

    For starters : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/news/8010840/Blue-badge-abuse-is-out-of-control.html

Google will find you others including an old one from Huddersfield (as I recall) that associated Blue Badge abuse with criminality !

Or maybe they are disabled but don't have a blue badge? Or do you think that not having a blue badge makes you not disabled? Do you believe that there is an obligation on disabled persons to apply for a blue badge? Or that blue badges are handed out automatically to disabled persons?

And anyway, if you believe the link posted above, half of the people who ARE disaplying the blue badge shouldn't even be using the spaces.

It's actually really hard to get a blue badge, by honest means at least.

Maybe we should just buy one of the dodgy ones? :)

Yes maybe some of the people are disabled but don't have/or forgot their badge I also know that people can not realise the badge has expired, this happened to my dad, the point I was making is that there are people out there who just don't give a toss because they know that if they are in a car park controlled by a private parking company they can just throw the ticket away, something this site encourages, going round photographing these people is pointless because they just don't care what people think of them and as for the people who are disabled but don't display their disk, why should they be named and shamed, we all know that the blue badge only thing is unenforceable in private car parks like supermarkets and retail parks.

You have no idea whether or not people who use the bays are disabled just because they are not displaying a badge. That's the point.

They may be, and statistically (according to The Telegraph) up to 50% of those who ARE displaying a badge are NOT disabled.

No one condones people using the bays if they are not disabled. BUT why on earth should anyone be encouraged to pay a spurious invoice just because their clock is wrong, or they have not displayed a blue badge, or because the attendant did not see their badge? Appeal, maybe? There IS no appeal system. A parking company is not going to turn down the chance of some cash, is it? And surprisingly, Helen Dolphin of the charity formerly known as Mobilise, supports the PPCs in their victimisation of disabled people.
