tippexI've also got a duplicate set of everything hidden away for the evening he comes home and tells me he cant do the homework set for the next day because he has left his pencil case at school
We were always provided with a List. I remember one of the last times The List came home, in a letter early in the term, stressing how important it was for each child to have a well-stocked pencil case with the following items. I KNEW that DS3 had a pencil case, so I asked him to go and find it, and its contents, so that I could get anything which was missing. "Nah, I don't need any of that, I just take a pen in my pocket." So what do you do when you need anything else? "Oh, I just borrow from my mates."
I invited him to show me where in the letter it said "each child except DS3 should have a well-stocked pencil case" but he couldn't. I think we compromised: he filled the pencil case and left it at home after a few days.
Apologies to all the teachers out there: he wasn't an easy child, but everyone seemed to like him!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Don't get red pens
I'm a teacher and we mark with them so if kids are using red pens too to make things "stand out" it actually just gets in the way as our corrections cannot be so easily seen. Green is better.
Beyond that I agree with everyone else; as for the scissors, maybe give it a few days from the start of term to see if school provide them or if kids need their own? We don't provide them so kids do need to bring their own in if they need them.0 -

I'm at college and I have all that stuff, including the pencil case. Guess where my stuff ends up? Bottom of the bag. Not even been there a week yet...0

Teachers arent allowed red pens here.. they use green or a pencil crayon.. red is a negative colour associated with anger and therefore damaging to a childs emotional wellbeing apparently.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
