Don't give up hope. Although I'm in work, I've been looking for another job for 18 months 'cos I hate mine. Lost count of the number of applications I've made and been to loads of interviews (and only had feedback from 4).

Something will turn up for you I'm sure but I understand it's much more difficult to cope with when you're out of work.:(

By the way, did you ask any questions?

Thanks for your support. Yes, I did ask questions! For all the good it did me. Just had to bring myself down a peg or two. Applied for a job in a factory and one on the tills in a mill shop. Gotta keep at it...

Okay, I don't mean to sound blunt but chances are that there is something fundementally wrong if you are getting interviews frequently but not landing any of the jobs. Getting an interview means that on paper you are suitable to conduct this work, the interview is about you - the only subject in which you are a true expert.

On the next interview you have when you leave write down everything you can remember, and think through your answers, did you answer well, were you nervous etc etc. Even if it is just down to the odds that you are not getting the roles the above will help you in improving your techniques.

I know what you're saying, but at interviews of course I'm nervous. All I can do is to try and answer honestly, be friendly, and try and be more confident than I actually am. The last time I was jobhunting seriously was more than 15 years ago, when you could pick and choose. I don't have a specific skill but feel I can turn my hand to many things given half the chance. I just need someone to realise this. I would be OK with a factory job right now but then I've got foreign labour to contend with. I feel like I'm never going to work again, I've got 20+ years to retirement!

This is probably something the interviewer is picking up on. I know its difficult but try not to let it get to you. I'm very outgoing and have the opposite problem, I need to remember to shut my mouth on occassion :rotfl:Whenever I've interviewed someone the quite timid one never gets the job because in our office they simply woudnt "fit" and would leave.
