  • I'm in as well, anything for motivation!

    Health
    - Loose 1/2 stone by christmas by going to the gym/for a run/wii dance at least 3 times a week - I have slacked recently and it shows :(
    - Stop eating rubbish between meals - need to think of some health snacks apart from fruit

    Wealth
    - Continue on the quest to reduce my mortgage to sub £100k - not sure i'm going to make this but can only try
    - Sort out my ISA for this year

    Up the Ante
    - Get my brother round to sort out all his stuff that is still in my house - he moved out a year ago!
    - Decorate spare room by Christmas
    - Start doing surveys again to make a bit of extra cash for Christmas

    Frugal Challenge
Stop buying lunch at work - aim to take packed lunch at least 4 days a week

    I think that's achievable - lets see!

Well, I've had a dismal start to my challenge - I treated myself to a magnum ice-cream yesterday! But that is one of the few ice-cream's I've had all summer, so I don't care!

I need to be gentle on myself at the moment - work has been unbelievably stressful (although we got the contract signed at 6.30pm yesterday, Hooray!!!!!!) and of course there is the break-up.

Like Pavlov, I'm a 'one goal at a time' girl at the moment.

Do you snack because you are hungry or bored? I used to snack in the afternoons at work and now I have softmints. I admit I have an addiction but they work because I have a few in the afternoon and being minty I find I don't want to eat anything once I've had one anyway. I know they're not fantastic for me but it is saving me having a chocolate bar a day so it is all good. I'm always starving by the time I get home but I defo appreciate my dinner more when I'm hungry.

p.s. eating ben and jerrys while typing this.

Hmm, in the name of money saving made OH some ham rolls to take on the train as he is working away this weekend. He rang to say he left them in the fridge and can I freeze them? Don't think that would work but not sure? I don't eat meat so can't use them myself. Some money saving that was

    Afternoon!

I have walked to work all three working days this week, also walked to a friends after work today which was three miles away  and stuck to the 30 mins a day with the pooch. Go me!

On the down side went for a curry for a friends birthday , but i didnt have a starter or desert and went for a tomato based one rather than a creamy one i usually have, small things and all that. Out again tonight but for the wealth and health i'm going to drive so no alcohol or taxi fares.

Yes you can freeze pre-made sarnies. If they have salad in, take that out, but the bread and ham can both freeze.

Thanks Michelle, he can have that for lunch on Tuesday - no salad in sight, OH had salad with the pasta I made last night so thats him for at least a week on the salad front, he wouldn't want to over do it ;)

Also had to get my sister a birthday pressie, so took advantage of the 3 for 2 on soap and glory and bought her a set, plus one for my aunty as a christmas present, plus something for me was free.

Wow you shopped till you dropped - sounds like you got some good bargains. Was the soap and glory in Boots? I might have a look on Monday for C pressies, can't quite beleive I wrote that as I never get organised early and have visions of buying stuff and then not being able to rememebr where I've stashed it :rotfl:
  • Ruth if you found following the C25k helpful (even if it did take you more than 9 weeks), have you thought about doing couch to 10k (which usually builds on what you've learnt during C25K) to give you something to work towards?

Thanks for this - I have considered it, but I am really struggling to do the 5K in the time on the podcast. It's taking me 35+ minutes so I really want to get quicker before I run longer distances.

I'll also struggle for time. I start my run at 6am & need to be home just before 7 for DH to leave for work. 35 mins plus warm up & cool down just fits in!
