Lynzpower - It was a private case and I'm not involved with any Social Workers. It's just that this woman works as a SW and I hoped that her employer might help stop all the harrassment I'm getting.

My love I really feel for you, in fact I am sat here typing feeling like I want to have it out with this woman!! What a complete b****!!!! I'm afraid I can't offer you any advice just some moral support. I cannot believe that 1) the case went in her favour and 2) she is being like this. If you were to buy a car on ebay you wouldn't try to get a refund on the basis that a part needed replacing a month down the line. You clearly suggested she have the horse checked etc. I think that she set out to cause you problems. The fact that she closed her bank account and did not notify you tells me just that.

My only piece of real advice is to keep a diary of EVERYTHING! Go back and make notes of everything that you can remember from the past.

This must be truely horrible for you and at a time like this when you want to enjoy your pending motherhood is just horrific. I'm pregnant and had real issues with my ex landlady upon moving out, there was even talk of court, we were also in the process of buying a house and it made life so stressful that I couldn't enjoy the first half of my pregnancy. So I'm really sorry that she's making it a misery for you. Just remember that what goes around comes around. If you feel down then come on here, lots of friendly people to be lovely and offer advice. Chin up x

Perhaps you could threaten contacting your MP when you write to the Council, this helped us when we were trying to sort out our Housing Benefit. (give them a time line to respond helpfully)

Is this woman still your Social Worker, sounds like you should at the very least be seeing someone else, with such problems.

I think you need to write one good letter, as has been suggested, and email it so that you have proof you have sent it to everyone you can think of ie her employers, her MP, the Leader or whatever they are called of the Council she works for, your MP, your local Councillor, the Court who are dealing with this, any Judge whose name you have who has any dealings with it, if the bailiff is a court appointed bailiff to his boss if not to whoever he works for. When I worked for a local authority as soon as the MP got a letter he would contact the 'head person' at the council who would immediately rush around our office like a mad thing, waiving his piece of paper around whether the complaint was about a local massacre or that someone had to wait 30 seconds for the phone to be answered. Have a Google and bang the letter off to anyone who looks a bit likely, someone will pick up on it I am sure, these really is not fair. Glad you are taking control of this person, before your appointment with the police as well as taking any paper work, write down what you want to say in case you forget when you get there. The police have a special person to deal with harrassment now so make sure you get one of these. Good luck tell us how you get on

Forgot to say if you send the letter at the same time to all and sundry you will get a response from someone because all of the others will be worried that they will be seen as failing in their duty when they know that all the others know, if you see what I mean

I'm deeply confused... I thought you could only go to jail for failure to pay council tax and refusing to pay it... really a VERY last resort... The chances of them putting a pregnant woman with a small child in jail over a PRIVATE debt... I'd seriously think this was highly unlikely but if you are in any doubt speak to CAB or CCCS :)
And please don't believe what a bailiff tells you... they are on the whole pretty clueless and will often tell any fib to scare you into paying... after all they get commission :)

Do you have any record of when you have paid the person in question? You mention cheques - if you are posting these make absolutely sure you send them recorded and signed for - this gives you a paper trail - even if they don't reach her you can at least show a court you have sent them in plenty of time - and take a photocopy of the cheque too in case she says you have post dated them ;)

Document EVERYTHING - always be polite and calm, send her a letter explaning that the pony she believes is yours is in fact not yours and nothing to do with you and you will in no way benefit from the sale of said pony unfortunately. I would send a copy of the letter to the court if relevant and make sure you are polite in the letter and if possible in the one to the court get a person of authority to witness that the pony is NOT yours - hopefully that will take the wind out of her sails... Normally I'd say just ignore most of her crap but as it's obviously distressing you then counter attack seems to be in order in this case :)

At some point someone sensible involved in your situation will take notice and help sort this issue out. I just hope it doesn't take too long to get there.

    I see 2 tactics here.

    1) Speak to the police and identify what ever you can as harassment.
    2) Contact the Social Work Department and stress that a Mental Health SW is causing undue mental harassment and that you officially call in to question her capabilities.

Short of that approach the local paper and see what they think of it as a story :)

Email by definition in the RFCs is not guaranteed delivery and proof of sending does not equal proof of receipt.

Just a little update. I'm starting to see light at the end of the tunnel!

I called the Bailiff's Office yesterday to make sure that I had received my application to suspend the warrant. The guy I'd been dealing with passed me over to his boss and for a change it was someone who was helpful.

The lady I spoke to remembered all the problems I'd had before with the claimant. I have to wait now to see if my offer is accepted. It's the same offer as last time as I can't afford anymore, but more importantly we discussed the selling of a pony issue. Luckily this lady had dealt with horse issues before and understood that all horses have a passport and a unique life number. I've now dropped a copy of my horses passport into the Bailiff's Office which can clearly prove that the pony being sold isn't mine.

I have a feeling that the Claimant won't accept my offer as she refused it last time, but if I have to sit in front of a Judge then I can clearly show how much I earn.

I really can't stress how much you guys have helped me through. It's wonderful and I truly appreciate it.
