The banking regulations regarding money laundering etc. are put in place for very good reason.
Frankly, I am surprised that so many people are willing to assist the OP get around these regulations, especially as he is probably not known personally to anyone on here.
The OP cannot pass the blame for a credit record being shot to bits onto anybody else. So, as an earlier post suggested, he should stick with the basic bank account until he has gone some way to repairing that damage and then go for an upgrade.
When applying for an account don't you have to provide ID with recent utility bills with your address on, or driving licence/passport, all of which will show your address?

Justin Credit I dont agree with what you say.
I think it is a disgrace that you cannot open a current account with 'normal' banking facilities. All I want is a VISA Debit card and not an electron - one where cheques clear in 3-4 days and not the 6 I currently have to wait etc etc.
I have not asked for an overdraft and nor do I want one. Yes it may come down to it where I have to open a basic acct and run it as such for 6 months - but it is a pity gone is the day where you could actually deal with a bank manager who had a say and not some computer system that makes all the decisions. I am not in Debt to my current bank and pay in a decent monthly salary but because of a default on a credit card no-one will give me a current acct.
Yes I got myself in this mess - but I am already paying for that - just seems soo much hassle when in reality I am not asking for credit - just decent banking facilities!!

Hi monster
While it is unfortunate that you have had a default against your credit record, and your credit rating has still not recovered from the setback, I doubt you will find too many people on this forum who will encourage you falsifying information as part of an application for any banking service - or give you any ideas in that direction.
As suggested, one should start with a basic bank acct and ask for an upgrade after six months - the risk involved in giving false information is hardly worth it.It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0 -
Also, there is a page of linked address in your credit file.
The idea is if you tell a company you are moving from A to B, they notify credit ref agencies. This will show on your file at both addresses.0 -
You could still probably get a current account but prob not the best ones. The main banks with low credit scores are Barclays, RBOS and HSBC. For obvious reasons.0

Thanks for the tip on the low credit scorers Student - however think RBOS would have alarms going off if I tried to apply to them again ;-)0
