Thanks DVardysShadow - The problem is, the placement of our normal PC (in the conservatory) is due to space issues - we have no where else to put the thing. It used to be in the box room, but this is now being used for other things. So, its nowhere near a phone point, hence I cant get it wired up - well, I could but the wires around the house would be like spag junction! So I am relying on wifi to get connected.
For the purposes on investigation and getting to the bottom of this, you need to try a wired connection. If your problem is the wireless, you can shout at Sky until you are blue in the face. But it will do you no good, because the remedy lies with you and not with them.

I used to work for Sky BBand in their tier 2,dept which mearged with tier 3,we had software that would allow us to log into a customers exchange & re-profile the line, raise & lower the speeds & even see what DSLAMs were faulty, spare or in use.I should imagine that all they've done is raise the speed using that system,LAMA I think it's called if I remember right.

Basically yes.Although I'd try to get BT out thru Sky to replace it with a NTE5.

In my own experience,if the existing wiring is not faulty, then replacing minimaster with an NTE5 WILL be chargeable.:(
