Good for you, I'm sure you won't regret it. I went on my own to an AI resort on Dom Rep years ago, just cos I felt like it. Whilst it was mainly couples there were some singles there and also because there were a few weddings, groups of different ages. I ate breakfast on the first day on my own but never ate alone after that. Good thing about these resorts is there is usually lots of daytime activity going on so you'll get to know people.

I was lucky I guess, but I got there late afternoon and decided that I'd go to the pool bar and talk to the first english person I saw. Just said hello to a bloke, told him I'd just got there and asked him what he recommended I drink. He invited me straight over to his family to join them - his daughter had got married earlier that day.
