No, he's asking for exactly the same details that you'd provide him with if you gave him a cheque.0

No.
They can't withdraw money from your account knowing those details unless they know everything else abuot you can can provide photo ID when visiting a branch. You're safe.
Also keep in mind that these same details are on every single cheque you've written - name, account number, sort code
EDIT: PMDUK beat me to itCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

the guy is being cautious.... he could give you cash in hand, you could then lodge a claim against him.... this ay for this guy here is a paper trail.Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -
Yep just wanted to make sure thanks0

Why can't he give you a cheque? That would establish a paper trail.0

If so a bank transfer would be the easiest option for him and the least expensive.0 -
Seems dodgy to me. When the money appears in your account, it could just be a loan he's taken out using your identity, giving your bank details for the DD to repay the loan."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0

Why can't you give him a receipt for cash with details of the amount and what it's being paid for?0
