cancelling cash back deal

after reading all the nightmares about cash back ive changed my mind, and want to go back to a pay as you go or cheap contract direct with a mobile network.

how can i quit my cashback deal - its been about 3/4 weeks since it started? i can easily cancel the direct debit to stop the money coming out each month. the t/c's say cancelled contracts are subject to a minimum £255 fee.

what are my options? i could sell the phone to partly compensate for the fine i may recieve. do they actually have the time to claim money off people ? any experience please let me know.

Since you are going to have to pay the £255 early closure fee anyway why not keep the contract and just stick within your free minutes and text. That way you can only win if they do pay out your cashback, and you get the free minutes and texts for the rest of the year as well.

Otherwise you'll not only be the £255 down, you'll also have the cost of all the PAYG top ups as well, which seems silly.

Cancelling the direct debit will just get them miffed at you, and if you refuse to pay entirely then they will put debt collectors on you and you may end up with it affecting your credit limit.

You can't simply change your mind, that is what a contract is all about! Would you like it if they said that they were no longer going to supply their mobile service?

You don't seem to understand that you have entered into a legally binding contract with your network provider and this has nothing to do with any cashback deal that you may be offered by the dealer to get a sale. Yes you could cancel the DD and they would put your account in the hands of a debt collecting agency.

You would be better sticking with the contract that you have agreed to, making sure that you do everything to the letter, to get your cashback.

If you just check website(as i was told different to what website showed) and write in diary when to return statements.
Always send by special delivery and let them have 3 weeks to text you and a month to send the money you should be ok. they are a bit of a pain and slow but if you do this you might find it easier and have postal insurance with special delivery.
i have a lovely pink v3 and it works out practically free. I have currently got £160 back from them and am due another £80 and have put in my diary when to cancel contract so that i give the exact time so i dont get charged anymore( i also plan to cancel my direct debit on the last payment i need to make to ensure this).
So really i have not had that many problems although i have had a moan about them. Just expect everything to take 2 weeks longer and you should hopefully sail through it!
