I put my cig butts out with my fingers and put them in my pocket. Got a few burn marks on my fingers to prove it.0

The Rd to the Airport from Belfast, is an absolute disgrace, with litter, wood, mattresses and other large items...with litter falling off skips and people fly tipping... It makes me sooo cross, and nothing is done...

I had a friend over from Belgium who commented on how dirty NI was. I've brought my DS up to put rubbish in the bin, and he would never dream of just dropping it on the ground and would comment to any family memeber who does. It's a disgrace.
I also remember being in Belfast one day and some people, can't remember who, had drawn chalk circles around all the chewing gum on the ground they could find. It really showed just how many people litter, and I thought it was a very good visual excerise. It's not as if we don't have enough bins everywhere!0 -
I was in a queue of traffic behing a car where a child in the back seat (aged about 9 or 10) took the packaging off his new toy he'd just been bought and threw it out of the car window.
I fumed as if I'd have done that I would have been made to pick it up. When he did it for the second time I got out of the car, picked it up and deposited it back through the open window whilst saying 'excuse me, you dropped something'. Needless to say the parents were none too pleased and I had to beat a hasty retreat back to the car and lock the doors.
I don't see why I should be forced to live with litter on the streets just because some parents can't teach their children the basics about acceptable behaviour.
We need to pass a test to drive a car, perhaps some people need to go to parenting classes?

Should there be more "litter wardens" (Bit like Traffic Wardens) and bigger fines?? I'm sure they would pay for themselves 10 times over. I'm begining to think people need a good hefty fine to make them really think and to stop doing stuff like this...0

We do but most in NI ignore the basics of what they are taught then too.
Indicating, stopping at red lights and giving way etc are all seen as optional suggestions and not part of the law.
It's a basic culture of ignorance driven by years of virtual lawlessness in some areas and I can only see it getting worse as the desire to behave with basic decency is clearly not getting passed down.
Dropping litter is seen by many as a right "I pay my rates" is the excuse.:mad:0
