Bathroom installation - Good Price??

Had a quote last night to replace bathroom suite fit tiles and put up units for toilet and sink. Price is just short of £1000 for labour and 'sundry' expenses pipes grout adhesive etc. Now I think this is a fairly good price, 2 guys 5 days. They can even start in 3 weeks, however my hubby thinks its pricey as plumbers have no overheads, just their van to run and he is frustrated cause he knows he can do the work himself (he is very handy) BUT so far i have waited 4 years for him to find the time and he just hasnt.
What does everyone else think? I would rather pay someone else anyway incase things leak and go wrong, then i cant blame hubby, the tiling will look good with someone knowing what they are doing.
Please settle the argument!!
Told him to start himself this weekend. Start with the bath and go on from there. Does those in the know think its feasable us 2 install the bath in a weekend then the sink and toilet in another weekend. Is there any handy manuals that can point him in the right direction? I would then pay for a tiler to do the rest? He has installed numerous washing machines / showers / dishwashers so knows the basics.
any help and comments appreciated.
huge thanks

£1000 is a good price. Plumbers are generally not cheap. On the other hand bathroom fittings & fixtures are by comparison cheap!
However what does this £1000 include? i.e. is this labour only? Who supplies the new bath, tiles etc.
Note: many plumbers will refuse to fit B&Q baths. Also, don't forget if you are installing an electric shower you will need probably need an electrician (new building regs)
Lastly 5 days is ample time for the project, especially with 2 people

fair price i would say paid 900pounds for a chap on his own to fit bathroom suite and shower and 12sqmtres of tiles so sounds about average .Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0

I think its very cheap - we have been quoted just over £2000 to remove existing suite, tiles (its fully tiled), shower, extractor, make good plaster etc, remove rubbish and then refit everything that they have taken out. I am supplying new tiles, suite etc etc.0

what area are you from if birmingham i give you a better price than £10000

i am providing suite and vanity/toilet units tiles etc. its just labour and 'sundries'. Am about half hour away from birmingham in worcestershire if anyone can help/reccommend?????
It doesnt include removing old tiles and paper, ( i will be doing this) they will make good the walls before they tile and hubby is fitting the floor soap dish etc. we were thinking of changing the end the taps are, so we could just run a shower from the taps instead of keeping an electric shower. doubt it will reduce the cost by just removing the shower not installing a new one?????????? will there be much work involved with changing the taps. Its only hubby that really uses the shower.

£1000 is a fair price, to take out and refit, and tile, and they are supplying adhesive, grout and pipes/fittings.
Plumbers dont have overheads:rotfl:
Ongoing vechile payments,Insurance, fuel, public liability insurance, advertising, overalls, cost of tools, extra cost of life insurance etc ect.
Only last week i worked all week for nothing:eek: bought a new SDS drill £5450 -

thats about £100 a day each before tax etc.
and they do have more overheads than a van, what about things like public liability insurance, ok the van which includes tax and insurance, diesel advertising, a % of the mobile phone most plumbers offices are their vans
there are more things than that but i think £1000 is a fair price imo0 -
£1000 is a cheap quote for 2 blokes, 5 days. What you got to ask is "Is the work required £1000?"
What size area is to be tiled? I would expect to do this in 4/5 days on my own and would look to charge up to £900 but then this is depending on size of tiling.0
