They certainly are supposed to write to you. Have you rung and checked they have your address correct?Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

BG don't normally write to you as such; i.e. not a letter telling you of the increase.
If you look at you quarterly bill it is in print at the bottom of one of the pages. Normally this is annually, however if it is necessary to increase the DD during the annual cycle, it will be on one of the quarterly bills.
There is no doubt that this information should be more prominent as it is easy to miss unless you study your bill closely.0 -
Well, I can say that npower definitely DO tell you if they're changing the DD.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

Can confirm what Cardew says, it'll be on the small print on your bill. I used to fume at BG as they increased my DD and the first I knew was when the money was taken but one day scrutinised the bill and found it amongst the usual dribble that's on your bill. I'm no longer with them BTW!0

But I dont get a bill . Do it all online.0

They'll only send you a seperate letter if for sone reason the amount is increased between bills, such as if you have phoned up and requested the change or it has been done manually.
Edit (after you posted): It's a while since I had an online account, don't they just send you a pdf of your bill and it'll be on that? If not you're best off calling house as they are the only department that would know.0 -
