Hi,
I am new to the forums,
My name is Rob and I live in Cornwall.
I have found a blackberry 8520 deal for around £2.50 a month. 21 of 24 months cashback
I have a few questions about how to assure I claim the cashback and not loose money
1. How do I cancel the phone insurance with said site?
2. What post should I post the bills by? I don't really want to send every one next day because it is £5 unless I have to.
3. I understand I have 60 days to send the bills in. However I will post the real bills and keep a copy for myself, as well as sending an email with the bills to said site within a few days. Is this ok?
4. It says something about sending the 1st bills in on the 4th bill. However i read somewhere it is the 4th month from when you recieved , the phone eg. If i bought on 1st sept do i count september and do the bills on december 1st or january 1st?
5. I am under 18. Will they care or should I use my mums account?
Thanks
Rob

    1-4. BuyMobilePhones.net (merged)

    5. BuyMobilePhones.net Terms 8.1.

You shouldn't use your mum's account. If she wants, she can take a contract on her name. However this wouldn't be a very wise decision unless your are a very reliable and responsible person (not very common quality among teenagers).

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I have looked through both of them.
My mum wanted me to take it out in my name so if I screw up its my problem because my brother screwed up with a cashback deal in her name.
However I dont want BMP not giving me the money cos I am 15.

Another question is it says I cannot go from o2 pay as you go to o2 contract. Therefore I need to port my number later
    Is this ok?

It's not about 'giving the money'. It's about the credit contract with the network that you cannot have until you are 18.

Normally you cannot port the number to the same network and have to do this through another network PAYG sim. However, AFAIK O2 is the only network that allow moving (not porting!) the number within the network.
  • Ok but will bmp mind if I change the number?

Can I port my number after receiving my new phone?

Yes you may port your number once you have recieved your new phone. Simply contact your new network provider who will require your existing mobile number and PAC code. Please note that O2 only allows you to port your number within the first 7 days of receiving your new phone. T-Mobile and Orange allow you slightly longer
I think it's more than 7 days actually. You can check with the network in advance.
Can I transfer my number after receiving my new phone?

Yes but only Orange allow you to transfer your number after receiving your new phone. All other networks require you to transfer your number whilst you're placing your order for your phone.
Again, I think this is incorrect. I think you can transfer only at O2 and only after receiving the new number.
    Check with the network.

Anyway, you can definitely port through another network sim without affecting the cashback if you do this correctly.

Ok cool. I will stick to the deadlines and send my bills in a day or two after I get them.
I will send them by next day recorded delivery.
I will use my mums account (she is happy to pay around £5 a month for a phone contract)
I will contact o2 as soon as i have made out the contract and ask for them to change my number.
I will ring the insurance company asap after getting the contract to cancel the insurance.
    Thanks for your help!

Make sure that what I said about O2 above was correct. Don't take my word for it. Check with the CS or on the website.

    Keep your mobile number

I hope you do know what you are doing with regard to the cashback, especially when porting the number makes the things even more complicated.

Given that he has done a fair amount of homework on this, and not jumped into the first £20pm deal that he could find, used his brain to find out about cashback deals and, on top of this, has come on here to ask for some advice, I think that might be a little unnecessary.

Just because we happen to hear about the horror stories, does not mean to say that the majority of teenagers are unreliable and not responsible. We wouldn't hear about the ones that do okay on here, would we?

I still don't understand this plan with using mum's account. It has to be her name + her card + her account (+ her permission of course).

There's no such thing as next day recorded, only special delivery at £5(ish) a time.

I've always sent my bills (for 2.5 contracts worth of claims) by 2nd Class standard, Buymobilephones .net acknowledge receipt relatively swift (within a week) via email, so given all bills are online and I've got a copy of the vouchers if they start playing tricks claiming they haven't received bills I'll send again via recorded/special delivery well within the deadline for the claim.
