Three Premium Mobile Broadband Dongle

Hi all

I am not usually someone that goes about and shouts about how good something is, however, I just wanted pass on my thoughts about a recent purchase - a premium mobile broadband dongle on the Three network.

Three offers two types of dongle - standard and premium. I have tried Three in the past and the performance has been rubbish. Having noticed advertising for their new "premium" dongle, I purchased a PAYG one on Saturday and I am more than impressed!

In the past, when using their standard dongle, I always had extremely poor download speeds and the signal would drop every 10 to 15 minutes. With the premium dongle I am getting consistent download speeds of 2mb/s (OK maybe not as impressive as Virgin Media), which I think is a vast improvement.

Next weekend, I will be travelling to North Yorkshire and I plan to take my laptop with me and if the Three coverage map is accurate then I should have no problems with internet access.

So, if you are looking for decent quality mobile broadband then I would suggest giving Three's premium dongle a thought.

Cheers

  • I am very happy with my prepaid standard dongles, but am really tempted to try the new one. Three have cut their prices, and they are available on eBay, but perhaps the price will drop a bit more.

They are getting good reviews, and MarkinHampshire on this forum recommends them.

I like my mifi.. get 3.5mb+ downloads all day everyday.

When the newer mifi is released shortly it should get speeds alot faster..

I have had my mifi for 9 months now, it is a E585. I pay £18 a month to get 15GB and for the first 7 months i was using over 10GB a month.
Sometime in July my speed seems to have been cut and now it is extremely slow, going from getting speeds of 3MBPS to about 0.1MBPS. I used under 1GB data for each of the last 2 months, even though it is turned on the same amount as in the previous months.

Would I be best upgrading to this premium service?
Can I cancel my contract as the mifi is quite unusable now and I still have 15 months left on the contract, I am not getting anything near what I expect and paid for.

  • Is the E353 a premium dongle or if not what model number are they coz i'm looking for a new one and want a good one?
  • Hi Shark

I have never used the MiFi service and I don't know what type of technology it uses. Further to my original post, I have now used the dongle in an area where I did not get any coverage with a standard dongle. The speed was around 0.9 mb/s which I still think is pretty good for mobile broadband. Apparently, when you buy something from Three you have three days to return it if there is no coverage. You could always buy one, evaluate and if it does not improve the signal then return it and try and fight your way out the contract! :)

    Hi Hank Marvin

The E367 is the premium dongle :)
