will Sky fit a new dish or just a LNB?

My son is moving into a new house which already has a Sky dish, however it just has a single LNB and he has Sky+.

Should he remove the present dish and wiring before the Sky installer arrives or should he just leave it as it is?

He had already upgraded to Sky+ before he knew about the move so he has already had an account and the present one is in his OH's name so I think he has run out of freebies but are there any other moneysaving options?

Could he start again as a new customer because he has changed his address?

He has about a month to decide before he moves.

They will do the bare minimum to get it running. If they get there and there's no dish, they will fit a new one.

I Bought a Quad lnb of amazon for 6.99 delivered
it came with two fitting for the older type sky single lnb dish's
i pulled the old single lnd out of the dish end
put the quad lnd on in its place it works perfect no dish realignment just change the lnd
if you can get to the dish easy enough

if you get sky to do it they may charge you there standard fee i think thats about £65

As stated they wont change it automatically, if its an issue remove it or just bend it in on itself, they are quite soft.

But why do you want a new dish? they never deteriorate inland.
  • Depending on where the dish is they may install a new one due to 'elf and safety (I've had this on an upgrade theyve refused to work on my old dish)

Yup,I've been to installs where since the existing dish was installed, the has been a conservatory/extension built so I've had to do a new install & leave the existing dish in place, much to the homeowners displeasure that I won't go on the new roof/conservatory to remove the old one.

Mine was placed over the extension originally by sky, but sky won't touch it now.
