Lost iphone

Hi
I have lost my iphone. I have contacted T-Mobile to cancel it. But I am aware iphones can be 'unlocked'. I have a few questions.

Does anybody know if you have a security passcode on the phone, will this be removed if the phone is unlocked?

I have my hotmail account linked to the mail app on the phone. I have just changed my hotmail password. If anyone unlocks my phone, will the email automatically be open? Can emails be sent/accessed? Or will it log out as the password has now changed?

With regard to itunes/App Store...If someone has accessed and unlocked the phone, will it mean they can download using my itunes and App Store and I will be charged?

Sorry for so many questions, but I have no idea as only had the phone 6 months (and a 2 year contract, and no insurance!!!) but am obviously concerned about privacy etc.

Thanks forreading and help!

Not sure what the full answer is. But changing the password for the app store would be good too. In fact change the password for any account that is linked to the phone.
  • Did you have the app "find my iphone" by Apple installed?

No i didn't have that app - hindsight!

Any idea how to change password for App Store??

The chap at T-Mobile seems to think once they have blocked the phone and it has been 'blacklisted' it is pretty hard to access - so fingers crossed he knows what he is talking about!
  • Hi, I lost mine about a year ago and I contacted my provider,o2, and they cancelled the sim for me straight away and advised me to go on my itunes account and change all my passwords and also to e-mail apple and give them the serial number from the phone, that way if someone else trys to register the phone apple will know that its lost/stolen.

Thanks for this - have just logged in to itunes now and changed password.
Looking as though going to have to take out a second contract with T-Mobile - and remember to get insurance!
    Expensive night out!!

you cannot 'unlock' an iphone to remove a passcode that is already set on the device, any attempt to remove the passcode will erase the device therefore keeping your data safe

again if your phone has a passcode on it (assuming it is a complex one ie not 1234) then you can assume your data is safe but it is a good idea to change your password to any account you have signed in on the iphone, eg any email accounts, facebook, and your apple id password.

    see red

you say on your last post you will be getting a 2nd contract, Why?? do not waste your money on another unnecessary contract, t-mobile will send you a new sim card just buy another phone and put that sim card in.
if you want an iphone just buy one sim free, wait till the iphone 5/4S then you can sell it to pay for another later on (providing you don't loose that one)
