Plusnet and broadband usage

I'm moving to a new flat which i think has a BT line (but previous tenants might hsve disconnected)and am looking for a broadband+phone package. .Plusnet seem attractive but there are 2 things that bother me:
1. i can't seem to find good/"honest" revviews on their their services; people seem to slag them off quite a lot.
2. i'm worried about the 10GB limit usage.
i used to have Virgin with their unlimited and used to not worry about this sort of thing.
Now, i've read that a Skype conversation can eat up quite a lot into the 10GB.
dO they provide a guage of your consumpyion or somrthing like that?
how about catching up stuff on iPlayer?
i'm afraid the midnight-yo-8am unlimited is of no use to me.not drinking coffee all night just to talk on Skype and catch up on Eastenders.

As with most things in life, you get what you pay for. :) 10GB is not a lot and is easily eaten up if you do anything other than emails and surfing. Skype and Iplayer will quickly trash a 10GB monthly allowance. So it ultimately boils down to how much you can afford to pay.

Go to https://www.samknows.com and use the Exchange search utility. Put in the post code of the new flat to find the exchange, then click on it to find out which ISPs serve it.

Check with the landlord whether the flat has a working phone line? Factor in to your financial analysis that you may need to pay to get the line activated.

Yes if you log in to your account there is a measure of usage for the current month and also historical data.

I have been with them for a couple of years or so and have found there internet service OK (with BTfor phone). I do not use Skype or suchlike and use Iplayer and youtube sparingley so have never reached the 10gb limit.

The customer support is in Sheffield (England that is) but there is also a good forum frequented by Plusnet staff who try to sort any problem.

Yeah looking for ISP reviews is a right pain, every ISP seems to have pretty lousy comments posted, but of course it's often only the annoyed that bother to post comments.....

I'm with Plusnet and pleased with the service, 10Gb would be about enough for me but I have the 60gb service just in case I go over with iplayer etc. I went with them as they were competitive and have a uk call centre and no overseas ones.
