Text Competition
Options
My local radio station is running a competition where you text in the answer and it costs you £1 plus network charges.
Is there anyway to enter the competition without it costing £1 as a friend of mine says it doesn't cost him £1 to enter but of course he won't tell me how he does it because it decreases his chance of winning the more entries there are?
Or is he talking ballocks?

No, they can put any rules they like on the competition. It is their competition.
It is a one day competition and the winner will be called at 5:30 today.
The £1 is collected by them sending a chargable sms message.0 -
Probably - unless he is doing what others have suggested - someone else's phone or has some free credit on pay and go, or doing it online.
Nice friend ..... though !
I agree, think the 'friend' is talking tosh eg I know how to get a flagship handset with loads of texts minutes and data for £1 a month but I can't tell you :rotfl:0 -

I personally would leave all these premium rate competitions alone but of course it's up to you0 -
many of these competitions will result in your mobile number ending up on some 'sucker' list for future 'marketing'
But I only use that sim for competitions, once the competition is over my other sim goes back in the phone.
I didn't win anyway, nor did my friend.I personally would leave all these premium rate competitions alone but of course it's up to you
Of course it is, I will spend my money how and on what I want. I will just put one line less on the lottery on Wednesday.0
