Do I qualify for LHB?

I have recently left my partner in Greece and returned to live in the UK with my two children.
We have a joint mortgage (on the house in Greece), although I am no longer contributing to the payments. The house is up for sale but the market is extremely slow at the moment for obvious reasons.
Would I be entitled to LHB even though I co own a house abroad?
Thanks

LHB - local housing benefit.
My partner is not in a financial position to buy me out, unfortunately0 -
LHA - Local Housing Allowance, for private lets rental
HB - Housing Benefit - for council/social housing rental0 -
isn't there an issue with underlying entitlement as OP has been living out of UK?
OP what is your current income?0 -
Owning another property thats for sale is only disregarded for a few months.
As you have been living in another country for 18 years you many not even be eligable to return and claim benefits.0 -
I don't have an income. I've only been back for a month and although I've been applying jobs - I haven't been short listed for anything yet (got another interview next week - so fingers crossed).
I've been staying with different members of my family and moving from relative to relative every couple of weeks and obviously I can't do that forever, especially as my oldest son needs to start school very soon.
What can I do?0 -
it sounds like you won't be entitled to any benefits due to being out of the country.
i would suggest you seek advice from a benefits expert (try the CAB as first port of call, also google any local 'welfare rights' charities or organisations, could also approach you local council, etc etc) and in the mean time continue to use the support networks you have, whilst looking for work.0 -
Well, things are getting rather strained at my brothers house with us all squashed in here and I really have nowhere else to go.
I've found a fairly cheap, furnished house for rent and I have just about enough money one month's rent plus bills and food. Hopefully, I can move in this weekend and put a claim in for LHB and see what they say.
If my claim is refused, I'll have to re-think my options.
Scary stuff with two little ones :sad:0 -

What will happen when you dont get housing benefit or dont find a job within the month?
Have you told the landlord the situation?0 -
Most landlords require a deposit and one months rent in advance. I would find out for definate if you will qualify as if you dont you will move in and have a month living there then have to move out and you will more than likely not get your deposit back again0
